Our Work
Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre is a proud home to a selection of core programmes linked to quality Outdoor Education. Further information on these programmes is detailed below.
Go Adventure
Go Adventure is an outdoor adventure programme suitable for adult students of all backgrounds and abilities. Our programme is also age-friendly! The course is centred on nature connectivity, adventure and wellbeing through the medium of the outdoors. With a focus on "slow adventure", fun, and exploration, we encourage our learners to take their time in nature and fully immerse themselves in novel experiences.
Young Mariner Programme
The Young Mariner Programme is tailored to young people who have an interest into Outdoor Learning. It is primarily a maritime skills course, wherein the students will explore Kinsale's natural environment through activities such as kayaking, sailing, powerboating, swimming, and expedition planning. The programme also highlights the importance of environmental awareness and nature conservatorship through Leave No Trace and Clean Coasts guidelines and applications.

This course is an ideal way for young people to mature into young adults through the medium of Outdoor Education. The programme is most suited to Transition Year students and runs over 28 weeks. The feedback we have received on this course has been very positive. We look forward to working with a new cohort in September 2024.
Instructor Development Programme
A project piloted in 2023-2024, this progression course builds upon our existing Young Mariners Programme. This 8 week long course is designed to support up and coming sailors and dinghy instructors. Learners work on developing their own proficiencies in sailing and powerboating, as well as discovering and enhancing their instructional practice.
Sailing courses and training
Sailing and powerboating are a huge part of our practices at KOEC, especially as we work out of an active and bustling marina for many of our water activities. We cater to children in the community through our summer sailing programmes. Local schools benefit from school racing training. Adults can avail of our Adult Sailing beginner-friendly "come and try" evenings. Topper Tuesdays is available for learners ages 13-17 who have completed Basic Skills training. For more information on our wide variety of sailing activities and skills' training please email info@kinsaleoutdoors.com.
